HOW TO LIVE FOOTPRINT FREE
It is estimated that in 100 Years, there will be no Rainforests.
One football field of forest is cut down every second.
HOW TO LIVE FOOTPRINT FREE
1. Work out your footprint
2. Pay your environmental rent
3. We will allocate you your CONA
4. Visit your trees. Tell your friends.
5. You are now living Footprint Free
But what is CONA?
CONA is our currency.
CONA is the cluster of trees that we allocate to you and only you. Through our relationship with Rainforest Trust Australia, we allocate a section of trees to you as an individual. They will be protected and that cluster of trees (your CONA) will work to offset your footprint.
It’s traceable. It’s tangible. It’s affordable.
You can even visit your trees.
We’ve created CONA based on a scientific algorithm. It is based on the size of your individual footprint. You can read more about the calculations here.
BUT HOW DOES IT WORK?
The trees we allocate to you, neutralise your carbon impact on the earth.
Traditionally carbon offsetting is transacted in metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e). One Footprint Free CONA equals 1 tonne of CO2-e.
Rather than purchasing carbon offset, which is difficult to trace, with Footprint Free, you will purchase CONA. Your CONA will offset your footprint. Your CONA is a physical cluster of protected trees, with GPS coordinates.
You can see your CONA on Google Earth, you can even go and visit those trees and give them a hug.
CONA is real and tangible, it is traceable.
You can even BRAG TO YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT IT. See our brag pack for more info.
WHY NOT JUST PLANT NEW TREES?
NO NEGATIVE IMPACT
By protecting the trees we have already, you are contributing to an affordable, viable solution to our C02 emissions crisis.
We would need to plant about 5 billion trees per year to account for current emission levels.
MOST COST EFFICIENT
Protecting the trees we already have is more cost effective than planting new ones.
It means that for as little as $2/week you can offset your footprint and pay your environmental rent.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
When you protect existing forest you are also saving plants and animals and providing a clean water supply.
It took 60 to 100 million years for Rainforests to evolve. They are the home of over 30 million species of plants and animals. When we clear the forests, they will all die.
SIMPLE + TRACEABLE
What could be more simple than preserving what nature has already gifted us?
At Footprint Free, we go one step further and allocate you the trees (CONA) so that you can trace the source that offsets your footprint.
